Why NJCRI is a Leader in Research and Partnerships

The North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI)
continues to distinguish itself as a leading force in public health research, education, and partnerships, both domestically and globally. Through a steadfast commitment to innovation, collaboration, and scientific rigor, NJCRI has demonstrated excellence in addressing complex health challenges, particularly in the fields of HIV, hepatitis, STIs, harm reduction, and underserved populations.
In the 2023–2024 calendar years, NJCRI has actively contributed to the global scientific conversation by presenting original research and field-based innovations at prestigious conferences across the United States and internationally. This level of visibility and engagement underscores NJCRI’s role as not only a community-centered organization, but also a thought leader in the public health arena

May 2025 European Association for the Study of the Liver

The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) Congress 2025, held from May 7–10 in Amsterdam, convened over 8,000 global experts in hepatology. The event showcased more than 2,500 abstracts and featured a comprehensive scientific program, including hands-on workshops and expert lectures, covering all facets of liver health.

For the North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI), insights from EASL 2025 are particularly valuable. Director of Research Corey DeStefano and Leading Program Manager Kevin Leyden represented the agency.  The congress addressed pressing issues such as viral hepatitis, metabolic liver diseases, and liver cancer, aligning with NJCRI’s commitment to advancing liver health and research. The emphasis on public health strategies, including prevention and early detection, offers actionable knowledge to enhance NJCRI’s community programs and research initiatives.

Engaging with the latest developments from EASL 2025 empowers NJCRI to integrate cutting-edge findings into its mission, fostering improved liver health outcomes within the communities it serves.
